Tea and Coffee Merchants

Hazelnut has a rich and distinctive flavour. The plant, a  native to the United Kingdom and used in everything from meat dishes to desserts it is not surprising that this delicious nut should find itself paired with coffee. Wilkinson’s Hazelnut Coffee is truly a taste of home.

The ubiquitous Hazelnut tree is planted as hedgerows, the canes are used as fencing and its flavourful nuts eaten as a country staple. Legend says a poor farmer ground the nuts and added them to his precious store of coffee to act as an extender. When his friends tried the resulting brew they were delighted and rushed home to duplicate this fortuitous blending of nut and coffee.

Whether the legend is true or not there is no disputing that the Hazelnut is completely at home in the coffee cup and is a favourite of gourmets.
